Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 July 2026
Islamify (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a personal Islamic companion for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac — prayer times, Qibla direction, the Qurʾān, duʿāʾ, dhikr, and habit tracking. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
We built Islamify to respect your privacy. We do not track you, we do not show ads, and we do not use any analytics or advertising SDKs.
The short version
Account information
If you choose to sign in, we collect your name and email address as provided by Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or email sign-up, plus a unique account identifier used to recognise you when you sign in again. With Sign in with Apple you may use Apple's private “Hide My Email” relay, in which case we only ever see the relay address.
Account information is stored by our provider, Supabase. You can use most of the app — prayer times, Qibla, the Qurʾān, duʿāʾ, dhikr, and habits — without an account by choosing “Continue without an account”.
Location
With your permission, the app uses your device's location to calculate accurate prayer times and to point you toward the Qibla. The prayer-time and Qibla math runs entirely offline on your device, and your live GPS position is never transmitted anywhere. Your most-recent resolved location is cached on your device; and if you are signed in, that last-known location (your city name and its coordinates) is included in the preferences that sync privately across your own devices — stored on our behalf by Supabase under your account — so your prayer times are correct straight after a reinstall or on a new device. It is used only to restore your settings, is never sold or used to track you, and is removed when you delete your account. If you use the app without an account, your location never leaves your device. You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings at any time; the app falls back to a city you choose.
Content you create
Your habits, dhikr (tasbīḥ) counts, prayer history, reading state, reminders, theme, and preferences are stored on your device. If you sign in, this content also syncs privately across your own devices so you don't lose it when you reinstall or switch device; the synced copy is stored on our behalf by Supabase. If you use shared habits or friends, the habits and progress you choose to share are visible to the friends you add. We do not sell this content or use it for advertising.
Your display name is visible to your friends, to anyone you send a friend request to, and to anyone who looks you up using your friend code. If you set a profile photo, it is uploaded to Supabase and served from a public link so that your friends' devices can load it — which also means anyone who has that link can view the image. Please don't use a photo you would not want seen outside the app. You can change or remove your photo and display name at any time, and both are removed when you delete your account.
Your devices
So that you can follow or control a recitation playing on another of your devices, the app attaches an identifier for this device and a device name to the playback information it syncs while you are signed in. The identifier is the standard per-app identifier iOS provides (Apple's “identifier for vendor”) — it is specific to Islamify on this device, it is not an advertising identifier, and it cannot be used to identify you in other apps or across the web. The device name defaults to your device type (“iPhone”, “iPad”) and you can change it in Settings → This device → Device name. Both are stored under your account by Supabase and sent in real time to your own signed-in devices only, so they can show, for example, “Following your iPad”. Both are removed when you delete your account. If you use the app without an account, this never leaves your device.
If you are signed in and a prayer Live Activity is running, the app also sends Apple's push token for that Live Activity, along with the day's prayer times and your time zone, to Supabase so the Live Activity can keep counting down while the app is closed. That token is not an advertising identifier, is used only to update your own Live Activity, and is removed when you delete your account.
Audio streaming
The Qurʾān audio and live Qurʾān-radio features stream from third-party content providers. When you play audio, your device connects directly to those providers, which receive your IP address as part of a normal network request, subject to their own privacy policies. The app does not attach your identity to these requests.
What we do not collect
We do not collect or use advertising identifiers, tracking or analytics data, contacts, health data, or browsing history. We do not read your photo library — the only image we handle is a profile photo you choose to set. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the providers that make the app work:
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the app.
Data storage, security & retention
Account and synced data is stored by Supabase using encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Passwords for email sign-up are hashed and salted; we never store them in plain text. We retain your account information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, the associated record and synced content are removed.
International data transfers
Your account data is stored on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Our provider Supabase is a US-incorporated company, and its personnel may access data to operate and support the service; where that involves a transfer outside your country of residence, we rely on appropriate safeguards. Sign-in providers (Apple, Google) and the recitation audio networks you stream from operate under their own policies and in their own locations.
Deleting your account and data
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. Because we hold very little data and provide in-app account deletion, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. For anything else, contact us at marwan@elmaraghy.me. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Children's privacy
Islamify is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app or its App Store listing.
